Tips to improve this amazing logger viewer

Hi, to use this software (and I guess more people too), I need this column: Context
Which will read the context defined by the user, like: <log4j:data name="logContext" value="Main" /> where logContext is defined by the user.
Also, the application doesn't save the last "session", so I have to open the log file again and again, as well setting the window size and spliter configurations.
Last, the Expression theme is too heavy for this kind of application..
I guess these tips will help the LogViewer quality

Thanks for your comment.
Some of your tips are under development (meanly saving user session, split bar position and a way to reset it).
The expression theme is a bit heavy but is here to break the sad look & feel of such softwares. If you have more precise idea about what must be added/suppressed to enhance the user experience, feel free to explain, I'll read it with great attention.

Of course, just installing TurtoiseSVN, you can, If you're interested, participate to the development. Just let me know.

thanks again for your comment.
best regards

I'm also looking for a good log viewer and yours looks like a possible choice. I tried to open and merge 3 files of 10 Mb each and it opened instantly. Nice job :-)

I ve got also my bunch of suggestions however ;-)

1 - Would it possible to have an up/down icon in a sorted column header ?
2 - be able to sort multiple columns at once ?
3 - Have a filter icon directly within the column header and drop down combobox instead of the filter menu ?
4 - Have bookmarks on lines to get back and forth easily to some points of the logs
5 - A row number and a "goto line" keyboard shortcut
6 - A right click context menu that pops up on multiple selection of rows to be able to copy their content into clipboard

Mmmm, ok, enough for now, you've got plenty of things to do besides in your everyday life I guess ;-)

Some more :
  • hide/show columns
  • search in [column]
  • auto refresh files content by polling with autoscroll to end
Sorry couldn't resist ;-)

All these features sound good... I'll try to implement them in next versions. Of course Codeplex is offering the possibility for collaboration. If someone want to collaborate I will open access to source code. If we are 10 to improve the code, it will be faster :-)

+1 on the show/hide columns - having the message column for me means the rows are very tall with the exception info which I can view anyway in the lower part of the screen.
Great work BTW! love using this viewer!
